Over the last decade, financial services has gone from being the indomitable sector – from an impact, employee attraction, innovation, and security perspective – to being challenged and often usurped across a number of these and various other facets. Technology businesses and technology within organisations have had a positive, dramatic and humbling effect on the sector, creating opportunities, significant transformation, disintermediation, and a wholesale change in working practices. And the sector has adopted these technologies and partnered with these new market forces as well as any other industry. As a result, financial services is a very different beast from 20 years ago.
