Global SRE Lead, Major Financial Services Company
This global financial services company was in the process of creating an SRE (site reliability engineering) function and mandated Marlin Hawk to find the leader of this newly formed team. The firm was interested in hiring an individual who had previous experience in building SRE teams from the ground up, was both strategic and technical, and could effectively bridge the technology and business worlds. The role itself was not prescriptive and the company wanted to build and shape a role around an individual. As such we were tasked with mapping multiple industries and engaging candidates at various levels of seniority.
Marlin Hawk assigned a global research team for the project to ensure the global market was covered comprehensively. The team began a mapping exercise encompassing two predominant research strategies:
Mapping talent across the Wholesale Banking landscape, and identifying SRE candidates across Financial Services spanning Director to Managing Director levels.
Mapping talent across technology, retail and telecommunications industries, to introduce candidates with diversity of thought and SRE experience.
Marlin Hawk identified candidates across a number of different industries with a specific focus on assessing the domain expertise, cultural fit, and adaptability of the engaged candidates.
Marin Hawk successfully placed a candidate in the Global SRE Lead position. The candidate is a former technology leader from a Global Bank with extensive experience across Platform and Cloud, and was pivotal in building and leading the firm’s SRE organization. The candidate was incredibly connected to other industries such as technology and retail, and had a history of being able to attract top talent in the market. In addition to being a hands-on technologist, the candidate was also effective in building and fostering relationships across a complex organization. The candidate began his tenure with in March 2022 and has already made a positive impact on the company.
