The Brief

A Fortune 100 global technology organisation was looking for a leader to centralise and modernise their internal and external Technology in an effort to reposition the function as central to the growth strategy. Aiming to migrate to the cloud, cut down in ERP systems and move to an insourced model, this major business-to-business technology organisation needed a transformational technology leader who could leverage business unit technology to enable and provide a clear forward strategy, specialising in software. As the company aims to grow and modernise, their core strategy will rely on technology to propel the function and the business to the next level, inside the product and business area.

The Approach

Marlin Hawk targeted West-Coast Technology talent with a focus on executives who had led large-scale transformations. The right candidate also needed to have experience in-sourcing Technology functions and moving legacy technology to platform systems. In addition, we also knew that this could come down to a cultural fit. The ability to influence across the business and the technology function, as well as setting a vision for the entire group was crucial to the success of this position. The company needed a high energy and passionate technology expert.

The Result

The finalist candidate was a diverse, West-Coast technologist, who had transformed the Technology function of a reputable software firm. This candidate had also effectively built and scaled a new ”consumer-focused” segment of the function at a global technology conglomerate. Overall, this person checked all the key boxes that the company was looking for. Through a team approach, we were able to close the candidate and help with their formal onboarding.
