People Journey Series | Greg Rodarte, Partner, Denver

by Greg Rodarte

We take a look behind the corporate bios of our team to uncover what drives them in their careers and why they continue to choose Marlin Hawk. Next in our People Journey Series is Greg Rodarte, Partner in our Denver office.

01. Tell us about your career to date with Marlin Hawk.

At Marlin Hawk, I’ve been given the opportunity to grow faster than I would have at any other firm. The culture at Marlin Hawk is one that prides itself on performance and results but also allows high performers the opportunity to grow quickly in the organization. I came onboard Marlin Hawk as a delivery Associate that intentionally did not have a technology recruitment background. In a short 3.5 years, I was quickly allowed to take on client management responsibilities due to my strong execution and have now transitioned into more of a business development-focused role.

02. What attracted you to Marlin Hawk? And how have we delivered on expectations?

What attracted me to Marlin Hawk was the flatness of the organization - and also the people. Everyone here wants to win and with a strong team around us, we have been able to not only transition from being a technology-focused financial services search firm but to one where healthcare is now our largest industry coverage and the majority of our work comes from outside of technology. At Marlin Hawk, I knew that it was less about “the amount of time you spent in a role” or “the partner you were working with,” but instead focused on results and a track record of success in order to grow in the organization. Marlin Hawk has certainly delivered in those areas.

03. What has been your greatest achievement so far?

My greatest achievement has been taking my strong execution skills and turning those into business development capabilities. I’m a content-driven person – I don’t like to pitch for roles that I don’t feel I understand in-and-out. That being said, the network I’ve been able to build in the healthcare industry and across the marketing domain enables me to bring rich content to every business development conversation I have.

04. What or who has helped you along the way?

This is hard to answer because so many people have been instrumental in my growth in the organization! From my time working closely with a former Client Partner, she provided me with opportunities that many other people in her position wouldn’t have, in such a short time frame. On the professional development front, my relationship with our Chief Operating Officer has been instrumental in my growth as a professional and seeing the holistic picture of the organization. I can say I used to be very reactionary and I am now able to take a step back and see the big picture.

05. How would you describe the culture at Marlin Hawk?

The Marlin Hawk culture is one that puts client delivery at the center of everything we do. We care about our clients and what we deliver to them. As a result, we care about our people because they are the ones that are front-lines with clients every day.
