Our Process

The old methods of search and selection weren’t working, so we discarded many of them and designed new techniques and tools. Our processes help us define and challenge a brief, validate the feasibility of a role and to find new pools of talented potential employees.

For example, calibrating the role profile early in the process through the introduction of a "benchmark candidate" is a unique concept that fine-tunes the search and can even completely change the strategy. One of our clients recently saved over £400K pa in base salary costs after the process showed that they could easily combine two roles into one.

Our use of technology sets us apart from the old fashioned search agencies and has come from listening to our clients’ and candidates’ frustrations. For example, using an MP3 device during stakeholder briefings helps us capture the nuances, subtleties and cultural aspects that most people miss by relying only on handwritten notes. Using digital media to capture requirements means they can be directly translated to multilingual researchers and the delivery team to avoid errors which can make the difference between failure and success.

Rather than leaving complex recruitment decisions to gut feeling, we take a scientific approach to candidate selection.  At the heart of our selection process is our unique "Balance Sheet" workbook, which we use to assess and score a candidate’s suitability for a role.

The Balance Sheet is the product of over 50 years of collective experience in search and selection.  We found that the old way of only relying on biographical assessment was ineffective, so we developed the Balance Sheet in order to adopt self assessment and competency based profiling for every brief we are assigned.
